Side B

Research, experimentation, support and open studio

Description

Program aimed at artists who want to develop, investigate or experiment with an idea or a process with an interest in having a space for their artistic production. Ideal for proposals focused on research without the need to obtain a result or a finished piece.

The program proposes accommodation in our house, enhancing the stay with daily exchanges with other artists who inhabit the space in a coexistence that, although communal, allows the necessary privacy for the creative process.

At the end of the residency, an open studio is held in order to share the work with the local scene.

We welcome artists from all disciplines and their crosses, having a particular interest in projects linked to themes they work on: border, migration, territory, community, history, heritage and margin; without excluding projects linked to any other theme.

Experimentation and work spaces:

2 rooms of 6×6 and 8×6 meters respectively, both with parquet flooring and high ceilings.

Free use of terrace of more than 300 m2. Ideal for developing projects with projections, body practices and large format pieces.

Shared workshop space at La Vitrina de Belgrado.

Program:

A member of the Belgrade team will be available once a week exchanging ideas, references and possibilities to enrich the artist’s creative process.

During the residency period, the Belgrade team will also attend to the basic technical demands for the development of creative projects, providing access to all the equipment and tools available in the residency: Multimedia equipment such as projector, screen, sound, etc.

At the end of the residency an open studio is held in order to share the work with the local public.

In first person.

There will be a presentation of the artist to Belgrado’s team: artistic career, previous works and approach to the project to be carried out during the residency.

Walk a nap

The proposal consists of taking a walk along the edges of Balvanera. An intuitive and idle route, to show the history of the neighbourhood.

A scene glance.

Visits to other artist ateliers, art spaces and galleries in Balvanera neighbourhood and Buenos Aires city.

Touring current exhibitions of public and private museums, art galleries and/or art spaces, as well as theater, performance, dance and/or live arts functions. Once a week the agenda will be sent by whatsapp.

At the end of the “Side B” residency, an open studio instance may be held to share the artist’s work, either finished or in work-in-progress format.

During a weekend you can exhibit your work to the public; neighbors, art enthusiasts, artists from the neighborhood and the city in general, curators and agents of art and culture.

Throughout the residency, Belgrado will be responsible for promoting the artist’s work through social network posts, our website, and street posters. This program includes only a photographic record of the exhibition.

Casa Belgrado is an independent and self-managed art space, integrated by a team of Latin American managers and artists from different disciplines.

The cost of the residency is intended to cover accommodation, production, dissemination and realization of the artistic project.

Monthly fee: $1.000 usd.

Any material necessary for the development of the project that is not available at the residency must be provided and assumed by the artist.

We support artists interested in processing their own funds through letters of invitation and/or any other material required for the management of scholarships, grants, public or private financial support, and/or institutional aid to cover the participation fee.
